Closing Out the Seasons

As the baseball season winds down, I look at this past weekend in which I watched the closing of the Minor League Season. This had me seeing two games with the Staten Island Yankees as they took on the Brooklyn Cyclones. Remembering the luck I had going after baseballs at Richmond Bank Park, I once again arrived early so I can be ready for batting practice. Once again luck came to me as I got two at the first game and scored a hat trick in the second game.




What's interesting about this set of trophies is that two say "New York-Penn League", one says "Minor League Baseball" and the other two say "Major League Baseball". Now I know where baseballs from the majors eventually end up. They become batting practice balls in the minors.

As for the games themselves. The Staten Island Yankees beat the Cyclones in extra innings, 2 -1, in the first game but lost, 3 - 1, in the final game of the short season. It was a fun time all around. Now this weekend will have me at the big ballpark when the Yankees play the Kansas City Royals. Hopefully I'll witness two wins.

And yes, Jackie Rabbitson will be with me at those games.
